Ridgeview Medical Center to Expand EDIS

Jan. 14, 2010

Somerset, NJ – January 13, 2010 – Wellsoft Corporation’s first Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) customer, Ridgeview Medical Center, will be expanding its Emergency Department Information System to add new features. Ridgeview Medical Center, located in Waconia, Minnesota is a non-profit, 109-bed hospital that provides emergency services for 21,000 patients every year.

Ridgeview Medical Center installed Wellsoft’s first generation EDIS – Wellsoft Integrated Clinical Management System (ICMS) in 1995. With patient tracking, clinical documentation, order tracking, discharge management and prescriptions, Ridgeview Medical Center has managed their ED efficiently for over 15 years.

Now, Ridgeview Medical Center is moving to Wellsoft EDIS v11 and is adding new features and capabilities including electronic Order Entry and Results Reporting, Facility and Professional Charge Capture, Clinical Decision Support for Quality Measures and HL7 interfaces. These new features support Ridgeview Medical Center’s goal of expanding EDIS functionality and enhancing interoperability with Ridgeview’s hospital wide system (McKesson’s Paragon® Hospital Information System).

Over the past 15 years, Ridgeview Medical Center periodically assessed other EDIS solutions and compared them to their installed Wellsoft EDIS. After every assessment, Ridgeview Medical Center found that Wellsoft EDIS provided the best mix of features, functionality and support and that moving to another option would impact the superior service provided in their Emergency Department.

“This upgrade will improve and enhance patient safety and staff efficiency in the Emergency Department”, commented Dr. Bruce Hubbard, President of Emergency Physicians and Consultants, P.A.

Marilyn Foss, Director of MIS at Ridgeview Medical Center added, “We are very excited about continuing our relationship with Wellsoft, the EDIS vendor we have worked with successfully over the last 17 years.”
