Digital Radiography Accessible for the Smallest Hospitals and Orthopedic Centers

Feb. 26, 2010

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 23, 2010 — NovaRad and IMIX Americas have formed a strategic alliance to combine NovaRad’s extensive reach in the community hospital and orthopedic markets with IMIX’s leading-edge digital radiography (DR) technologies to provide affordable DR to small hospitals and orthopedic centers. With this partnership, NovaRad will begin offering IMIX’s DR and detector technologies as part of its product suites.

“Our company was built with a vision to provide high-performing systems at an affordable price point, and by aligning with IMIX, we are continuing to do this by making digital radiology attainable for orthopedic centers and community hospitals with the leanest of budgets,” said Paul Shumway, vice president of NovaRad Corporation.

As a value-added reseller, NovaRad is now offering and will support the following IMIX DR products:

NovoRad DR System, the ideal retrofit for a community hospital X-Ray room. It consists of a detector, X-ray table, console, collimator, and workstation.

Slimline, a slim panel detector available in bucky-mounted and tethered versions, designed for space-constrained areas. The NovoRad System and Slimline detectors for general radiology and orthopedic Imaging produce fast high-quality images in seconds directly on a computer screen rather than on X-ray film or with cumbersome CR cassettes.

Intuition, a dual-detector DR system that incorporates motorized vertical stand and tube crane. Fully servocoupled, it allows hands-free positioning on upright exams.

“Traditionally, DR has been out of the price range for many hospitals, clinics, radiology centers, and orthopedic practices because of the high expenditures for hardware, software and training,” said Sigrid Smitt-Jeppesen, president and chief executive officer of IMIX Americas. “Now, with the NovaRad and IMIX partnership, even the smallest radiology department or practice can achieve the benefits of digital imaging, including improved workflow, faster patient throughput, improved physician and patient satisfaction, and better patient care.”

The IMIX DR systems are now being offered through NovaRad in both the U.S. and internationally.
