Healthcare Informatics 100

The highly anticipated annual Healthcare Informatics 100 has arrived — once again we've put together a listing of the top 100 healthcare IT companies by revenue. In addition to the listing, we've selected 10 of the top 40 companies to be highlighted in our "Headliners" profiles. Each of the headliners are market leaders within their respective fields, all having an edge that distinguishes them from the rest. This year's "Up and Comers" are comprised of eight companies ranked from 41 to 100. What unifies the Up and Comers bunch is their exponential revenue growth over the last year, coupled with significant developments in their product and service offerings. To finish things off, six companies were selected for honorable mention, "Others to Watch," all of whom submitted their numbers for our survey, but didn't make the cut this year. Check out the Top 100 package, starting on page 18.

Revenue cycle management is the back-office part of healthcare, often not receiving the same amount of attention as other headline-grabbing topics such as electronic medical records and computerized provider order entry. However, when an organization finds its AR days in the triple digits and a cash-flow crunch cramps IT spending, we're reminded of just how critical sound workflow and solid applications are in this area. The Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) has released its 18th annual Leadership Survey, showing that patient safety is top priority for CIOs. As such, providers are looking to spend on technologies such as electronic medical records, computerized provider order entry and clinical information systems. But that's not all it showed. In "HIMSS Releases Results," we break the survey down and reveal all the tidbits of information HIMSS was able to wring from the industry's top IT executives, page 16.
